In the heart of the Eastern Cape at the confluence of the Bushman’s and Nazaar rivers the pristine Bushmans Wildlife Reserve can be found. Since about 1750 to about 1779 the Bushmans River, named for the Khoikoi and San present in the area, was a natural boundary for the expanding Frontier Farmers from the Cape Colony, under Dutch rule at the time. Beyond the Bushmans lay the Zuurveld all the way to the Fish River where Xhosa tribes could be found. 100km away lays Algoa Bay or Port Elizabeth as the city is called today.
